- “Small Axe – Lovers Rock”is one of the most masterful hours of storytelling I’ve ever seen. I’ve never seen someone so masterfully capture the feeling of a club night and all the emotions that get shared and worked through as a bunch of bodies become one mass—vibing, celebrating, falling in love, working through the pains of life…ALL OF IT. Anyways Steve McQueen just became my new favorite director with this, you can peep it on Amazon Prime, and I hope it strikes you the way it struck me.
- This song occurs at one point in this film—it’s my favorite scene which should tell you a lot—and I’ve had this song on repeat for the last 24 hours. So yeah. It’s a BURNER.
